infiltrating grade 1 (of 3) ductal carcinoma tubular

by Amy1973, Mar 07, 2007 12:00AM
The summer they found 2 infiltrating grade 1 (of 3) ductal carcinoma tubular masses.  I chose to have a double masectomy - I am 32 years old.  A cousin with the same cancer at 34.  No cancer in the sential node.  Since it was stage 1, no spead, and having a double masectomy the oncologist said I would only have a 6 percent chance of the cancer to return I do not need chemo.  I have slight progersten in the masses but he didn't want to give me drugs for this.

I have them found spots in liver and one nodule in lung.  We are watching them.  PET scan has found a hot spot in middle of chest lymph node.  We are testing spot in lung for infections (baterial and fungal) but all were negative.  Will have CT in 6 weeks.

With all of this - should I push for Chemo just in case or just watch and wait for growth or changes in the spots that I found like they are suggesting?

Thank you.

You should post on the doctors forum above. Maybe he could give you some advice. Just curious how do they test the spot on the lung? We only get two questions here a day to be answered by the doctor so get to it early in the morning. breastcancer.org would be a good site to visit also log onto their discussion board. I had a right masectomy for DCIS but was found to be invasive. Small 0.09mm. So I did not have to have chemo or rads. Get a second opinion also. Have you already had the masectomy? Sorry I can't help you further. Please let me know what you decide.

They did several tests: skin test, blood and UA.  I also had a bronscopy.  The Bronscopy didn't work because the nodule is too far out and still small.

I did have the mastectomy.  This went good, I am happy that I made this choice.  It is hard but I feel well worth the worry.  But I am finding that I have other things to worry about now with spots in the liver and lungs.

I am still in the reconstruction stage.  Had a bad infection and needed a PIC line and medication.  Was allergic to meds.  Found something that worked and was on meds for 4 weeks.  That was not fun and needed the implants out during that time.

I have a new hybrid implant in and done filling.  Almost done with reconstruction!
