inverted nipple

hi, i have had an inverted nipple on my left side as long as i can remember. i did unsuccessfully try to breast feed my son when he was born 8 yrs ago. my nipple quite often has a smelly discharge and has over the last couple of ays become very painful. it is about a week after my period now so could that contribute to the pain? i also get cyst like lumps on my nipple occasionally.

The inverted nipple if you have had it for years would not be related to breast cancer but the other symptoms may be related to a ductal problem. I suggest that you see your Dr. for a clinical breast exam and possibly some other type of testing. Treatment is certainly available for such conditions.     Regards .....

i HAVE HAD AN INVERTED NIPPLE FOR ABOUT 11 YEARS NOW AFTER BIRTH OF MY DAUGHTER. hAVE HAD IT CHECKED OUT 3 YEARS AGO, AND 11 YEARS AGO WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED. wAS TOLD IT WAS A BLOCKED MILK DUCT 11 YEARS AGO. lAST FEW DAYS i HAVE NOTICED A MORE PRONOUNCED INVERSION, ACCOMPANIED BY MILD DISCOMFORT AND PAIN AND A HARD LUMP TO THE IMMEDIATE RIGHT OF MY NIPPLE AS i LOOK DOWN. hAVE BEEN TO THE DOCS TODAY AND SHE IS SENDING OFF FOR AN APPOINTMT FOR THE NEXT 2 WEEKS, BUT WOULD APPRECIATE SOME SORT OF PEACE OF MIND/ HEARING FROM SOMEONE ELSE WHO'S EXPERIENCED SIMILAR. tHANKS
