is chemo effecive for lobular cancer

My oncologist told me during an intake thqt chemo does not always help in a diagnosis of lobular cancer. Is this true? i have invasive lobular cancer tumor size >5cm erpositive her2 neg. I had a mastectomy 9/9/2010. I am trying to determine what steps to take next. One onsultation advised radiation plus chemo and aromatase inhibitor for 5 years and one never mentioned the radiation at all. also one indicated that chemo isn't always effective for this type of cancer. Please if you can adress this? Thank you

I had ILC too and my mass was 10cm when found. I had to have chemo first to shrink the mass before surgery so the first four rounds of chemo were adriamyacin/cytoxan. After four rounds the 10cm mass looked like swiss cheese and they said at the time of mastectomy there was approximately 1.5cm mass left.

After surgery I had another 4 rounds of chemo followed by 8 weeks radiation. It worked for me and mine was ER+ PR+ HER2-
