itchy rash on both breasts

I have had an itchy rash present on both breasts for some time.  I use hydrocortizone cream to help with the itch.  The itch seems to coincide with my mentral cycle somewhat - less itchy during my period and then after it is finished the itch reappears.  Was reading some of the posts and it now concerns me when the response seems to always talk of cancer.  The rash is present on the nipple and around the nipple on the brown part of the breast.  Your suggestion is to see a doctor about this?

Dear kaydy:  Skin on the breasts is like skin anywhere on the body and is subject to a variety of abnormalities.  That the rash is on both breasts is more suggestive of a skin problem and less suggestive of a cancer problem.  However, the only way to know what this is or how to treat it would be to see a doctor.  The reason there is so much discussion about cancer is because this is a breast cancer forum.
