I have just undergone a lumpectomy for a 4cm phyllodes tumor. Pathology results confirm that it is low grade malignant. I have done some research and have many questions. Basically, I want to know if I should ask for a second opinion, a PET scan, and if I should inquire about radiation. The oncologist, as well as the breast surgeon I've had, only see about 3-4 phyllodes tumors a year. Mine is the first malignant one they have encountered. Therefore, I want to try to be as educated about getting the proper care for this as I can. Please tell me what you think.
