lump after biopsy

lump after biopsy

I had tissue removed (3 months ago) about the size of a large egg from my upper breast which they said was "pre-cancerous" and because the outer margin was clear, I would not require any further treatment. One month later I found a lump at the bottom of the same breast that my GP thinks is a cyst, but doesn't want to remove it so soon. Any pressure against it makes it extremely sore and the pain radiates into my armpit. I am small breasted and am left with a huge deformity and the surgeon suggested that I have a double mastectomy so I am not continually having biopsies that he says are getting harder to do.

Dear raspy:  Without knowing more about the pathology of the original lump as well as your other risk factors, it is difficult to make any specific recommendations.  If this is a cyst, it could be aspirated (fluid withdrawn) and it will disappear.  A bilateral mastectomy is an aggressive treatment.  Before embarking on this, you may be well served by getting a second opinion by a breast specialist
