lump and clusters?

I wonder if anybody can offer me some advice to ease my worries some.
About a month ago, my Nan had an abscess on her breast, when the GP checked it, they prescribed her with antibiotics and gave them a week to work, when she checked again, the abscess hadnt gone, but she also discovered a lump on my Nans breast.
Today, my Nan went for check ups, a mammogram and an ultrasound, and was told there is a lump, and five little clusters of lumps also. He didnt say whether this was a good or bad thing. She is having a biopsy today, and will get her results a week today.
Can anybody give me some idea of what the clusters may mean? Does the fact that theres little clusters mean theres more of less chance of it being cancerous?

Many thanks

thank you so much for your response, I wasnt aware that multiple lumps were benign. I know this isnt definite, but you have definately eased my worries alot! Many thanks

Hello,

It is very difficult to say whether a particular breast lump is malignant or benign without the biopsy reports. In all cases of breast lumps or non resolving breast lesions it is advisable to go in for a biopsy, which is a safe procedure. Usually multiple breast lumps are associated with a benign lesion but this is not the rule. You should wait for the biopsy reports before you start worrying too much - it could also be a non resolving breast abscess which would resolve to a higher group of antibiotics than used before, for a longer duration.
