lump and pain in armpit?

Hi im 24, i have a lump under my areola. I went to the hospital 3 years ago when i felt it and did an ultrasound. they said it was a fibroadenoma and wanted to do a fine needle biopsy which i rejected to do at the time because i thought i couldnt be anything serious and brushed it away. Now the lump has become larger, my areola has changed to a darker colour and it has become dimply. My armpit is swollen and have trouble lifting things with that arm. also swelling on top of my breast near armpit. Doctors here in cyprus as taking their time with booking me for an ultrasound. I feel very unwell and have left work due to my armpit pain.I cant wear a bra anymore coz my breast itches like mad where the lump is. There is also a discharge. My family is worried that it may be cancer. Trying to find out about getting an ultrasound asap but things are slow here and im deteriorating. Mother is serious about sending me back to England to so a specialist? What do I do? Are they exaggerating or is this a serious matter?

I agree with what zouzi has said to you. you should never put off a biospy if it can give you clarifaction. You are so young. Dont worry too much as Fibroadenoma is not known as a cancer but still go and have your test done.I had a fibroadenoma removed june of this year which was fine but they also found phyllodes tumour as well but i am in menopauseal years. Try not to worry too much as it wont get you any further. (I know, have been there) Stay calm and best wishes.

Hi,
It's really unfortunate that you refused to have the lumps biopsied when your radiologist recommend it back then.
Now,what's done is done and with all the symptoms you are having, you really need to have this lump and the swelling in your armpit fully evaluated.
The lump detected 3 years ago might have been a fibroadenoma, but of course it was not definitely diagnosed as such ,since it wasn't biopsied. The lump could also be an infection or a papilloma , but it needs to be biopsied to find that out.
I don't know if going back to England,as your mom has suggested, you'll have a quicker appointment, but if you think that you'll have a better chance in England, then by all means go.In the meantime try to get in touch with a Breast Cancer Center or a Breast Specialist in Cyprus and see if you can get an appointment sooner.
I sincerely hope that you'll find a quick solution to this problem.
Wishing you all the best...
