lump getting bigger

lump getting bigger

Oct of 2000 felt small lump bottom of right side of right   breast, had mammogram, 2 masses were seen same day they did ultrasound, refered me to surgeon immediatly. the surgeon said to small to worry about now only 1mm. also said have checked in three months.  did that it was no bigger.  last ultrasound was in jan. 2001.  I had no insurance.  Insurance will take effect oct 2001.  the lump is visible and hard about pea size not painful unless pressed. Have to wait for insurance thats why I feel back in Oct the surgeon wounld'nt check it.  Have been in fear for so long now!

Dear Busymom, I do hope that the reason for a decision not to investigate further was based on lack of insurance alone.  It does sound like it should be looked into, with October just around the corner having waited this long another 10 days shouldn't make a difference.  If you are uncomfortable with the surgeon you saw before perhaps make your appointment with another surgeon who's specialty is breast disease.

Perhaps you need to see a different surgeon. Find one that takes your concern seriously. While fear is hard to suppress, it not only interferes with our ability to listen to our bodies, it obstructs our decision-making abilities. You must do your own research. Again, Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book, among others, will help. As I have previously stated, I also find Susun Weed's Breast Cancer? Breast Health! extremely useful in different ways, and at different times. It is horrible that you have felt you had to wait so long. I don't know where you live, but, in at least one state I know of, the Breast and Cervical Cancer Project/Program can lend a hand. A message like yours makes us all crazed; of that I'm certain. Find another surgeon. Contact the breast cancer unit of your hospital. How the hell did your surgeon expect you to react when you say there were definite findings. I had no insurance, by the way, when I finally convinced a physician that there was something wrong. There are resources out there...not enough...but there are. For the fear aspect, I find taking Nettle calms me, but, as S. Weed suggests, visualizing a large, orange pumpkin helps substantially. (It's actually the grounding of the color orange that's important). But get thyself to someone who will pay attention to you. Blessings.
