lump

Hello,

I am 35 years old .  I found a lump(knot)underside of my breast. It is small and hard and doesn't move. (I have a 5 month old baby and did breastfeed for about 6wks) It also doesn't hurt.
I first thought it was a pimple and tried to squeeze it, which made it red.  Took awhile for it to heal, now the skin is dark around the lump.  Don't know if I bruised the skin or not.

Is this something I should be worried about.

Anyway I was wondering should I see my doctor or wait and see if it goes away.  (It has been 2 cycles since I noticed the lump, read some where that you should wait for 2 cycles)

Thank You
Kim

I HAVE A LUMP UNDER MY RIGHT BREAST, AND IT IS KIND OF SOFT FEELING, WHEN I GET INTO A CURTAIN POSITION, OR LAY FLAT ON MY BACK IN BED IT IS REAL TENDER AND PAIN FUL, AND I CAN FILL THAT IT IS THERE THE PAIN WHEN I MOVE A CURTAIN WAY, I HAVE HAD OPEN HEART SURGERY, IN 2000, DO  YOU THINK THAT IT COULD BE FROM THE STAPLES THAT THEY PUT IN, I  JUST  HAD A MAMMOGRAM IN DEC, AND IT IS FINE, I HAVE BEEN BACK TO THE HEART DOCTOR, AND THE DID A STRESS TEST ON ME, AND IT WAS FINE,
IT IS RIGHT,  WERE THE RIB CAGE STARTS, WHAT DO YOU THINK  IT IS, SHOULD I BE REAL CONCERNED, AND SEE IF IT GOES AWAY, OF GO TO THE DOCTOR AGAIN, AND HAVE AN EX-RAY DONE??
I HAVE TOLD MY DOCTOR THAT  I HAVE HAD BREAST PAIN, BUT THAT WENT AWAY, SHE DID NOT SEEM TO BE TO CONCERNED,

Thank you for answering me so quickly.  One more question, should I see by gyn or a dematologist?  The skin problem didn't happen until after the lump.( and I missed with it.)

any peristing lump ought to be checked: 2 cycles is enough time to wait. It sounds like it may be a skin problem rather than a breast problem, but it's best to find out.

I'd say to start with your gyn or primary doc, and have them decide if anyone else needs to be involved.

Dear wilmothpac:  Since it has been a couple months and it has not gone away, it is probably worth having it checked out.  There may be a very simple explanation but it is best to be sure it is not something to be concerned about.
