lung cancer with bone metastasis stage iv

My father has been diagnosed with lung cancer (right lung pleural effusion)
adenocarcinoma and extensive bone metastasis in his vertebra.  Stage IV.  The CT scan showed his brain, stomach and kidneys are fine. He has been very healthy all his life never had to see the doctor before this. Never smoked in his life.  He is 75 years but maintained health like 60 year old.  He had one dose of zometa followed by palliative dose of radiation 15 sittings. He responded well so the doctors gave him two rounds of chemo after seeing the improvement after the first chemo.  They gave him cisplatin-5FU. It has been two months, now he is not complaining much about pain but he is bedridden, doesn't eat much, so lost weight. The doctors said his lungs sound better, may be no more fluid formation.  He is very strong willed wants to live for 100 years since all his family lived that long.  But I am worried and want to know usually how many chemo's are given at his condition? and will he be able to get up from the bed? Please let me know.  Thank you.

Dear chinna:  We are sorry.  This is a forum about breast cancer.  We only respond to questions about breast cancer.  There is a website about chemotherapy called www.chemocare.com.  You may find this helpful.
