lymph node found on mammo

Hi
I am 28 found a beebee sized lump went to my docter who sent me for an ultrasound which was negative just went for a mammogram and to a specialist who upon examination said that I was feeling a ligament..Well, I just got a letter about my mammogram saying it is probably benign and to follow-up in 6 months..The specialist also received a copy of my mamogram (mammogram) and said nothing about this..i called the radiology dept and the tech read me the report which said that nothing was seen in the area I feel the lump but A mass which they said was a lymph node was seen in the same breast in the auxilla area..Is this common? Do you think I should see another specialist or follow up in 6 months? Is this the normal procedure when a lymph node is seen? i am just surprised the surgeon didnt say anything to me .

Dear ashpie3:  Based on your age alone, it is unlikely that you have breast cancer.  However, if a mass was seen on a mammogram, it is a matter of your comfort in terms of knowing what this is.  Since it has not been dismissed as normal (they want you to return in 6 months), you might consider another opinion with a breast specialist to see if this "mass" should be pursued.
