male painful right nipple lump

I am a 22 year old male and about a month ago my right nipple started hurting. After about 10 days a lump had swelled to about half an inch and hasn't grown since. My nipples went through the painful lump stage when I was going through puberty. It is painful to the touch but doesn't necessarily hurt otherwise. I have a doctor's appointment to get it checked out but fear it could be serious. I can't tell if it is attached to anything.

Everything is possible...gynecomastia  condition usually occurs in teenage boys, but also an hormonal imbalance in some men with high levels of estrogen, can promote glandular tissue growth.
It's advisable that you have this lump checked out by your physician though, so you can have this problem resolved.
Take care....

Is it possible that it is similar to the gynecomastia that occurred when I was younger? Or could it be something like a blocked gland? I just didn't know what to think about it happening so fast but then leveling off.

Hi
Over the internet it is difficult to give you an exact answer to your question. It is rare for men to get breast cancer though. But as rare as it might be, it could still happen, especially when men get older. What you have could be a cyst or an infection but a lump,as a rule, should always be examined by a medical professional. It's a good thing that you are having this lump checked out.
I hope that everything will turn up just fine.
Best wishes...
