mammo results

6 months ago i went for a mammo because i was having some pain in my left breast.  My doctor did not feel anything unusual but sent me for a mammo anyway, after a couple of days the mammo clinic called me a said that I needed to get another mammo done because of dense tissue, I did.  When the results came in the doctor called me and said that it did not look like breast cancer but did suggest that I have another mammo in 6 months which I am going tommorow.  I still have pain which comes and goes but also I have some pain under that same arm. Does this all sound normal?

Dear mickyh:  Typically, breast cancer is not painful.  The question is what showed on the first mammogram that they wanted to check in 6 months.  It is not "normal" to do mammograms every 6 months in general but it may be recommended in a variety of situations.
