mammogram

I have been experiencing a lot of pain in my left breast had a digital mammogram last week called in three days later for ultrasound shows small focal densities seen in the medial aspect of the anterior 3rd of the left breast the dianna pattern is minimally dense without parenchymal distortion would not identify on mlo views need spot compression and ultrasound what does all this mean

Thank you for responding m results said focal densities in the medial aspect of the anterior third of the left breast I don't have a clue what any of that means I just know it scared me and knowing other people that have been through similar situations are here for support really helps thank you so much

Hi,
If the radiologist interpreting the screening mammogram images sees something unclear or abnormal on the images, it's not unusual at all to ask the patient to come back for additional imaging,such as a Spot compression mammogram which will focus on a  smaller area of the breast tissue to achieve better imaging. Try not to worry,this second test often clarifies things and maybe an Ultrasound won't even be necessary.
Keep in mind that breast pain is rarely associated with breast cancer,but cysts or other benign lumps could cause the pain you are experiencing.
