mammogram

mammogram

I had a routine mammogram in February.  I was called in for an ultrasound because of abnormal tissue in the left breast.  After reviewing the ultrasound and prior mammmograms they asked if I was on estrogen.  They believed the change was because of that.  I go back in for another mammogram of the left breast in six months.

I am 45 years old.  I was on loestrin (birth control) for one year because of horrible hot flashes and night sweats.  It helped alot but I did not like being on the pill. I stopped them in October 2000.  At my physical in February my doctor told me I should go back on them because the hot flashes were back and rampant.  I was only on the pill for one month before my mammogram.  Would this have caused the tissue change in such a short time, or was it because of being on the pill before?  Now I am wondering if I should NOT be on the pill?  Very confused about the whole situation.  Having the abnormal mammogram scared me.  But at the same time, the hot flashes are back.  Do you have any suggestions.

Thanks.
