mammogram

Thank you for the response to my mammogram question.  Sorry I was not clear on what I was asking.  I just wondered if it is probable the estrogen is the cause of the tissue change in my breast?  To clarify, they did not see anything on ultrasound.  So the radiologist went and looked over my past mammograms to compare them all and it was her call that it was the estrogen that made the density change.  She thought just doing my breast exams and waiting six months was fine.  She said this is very common.  I talked to my doctor, and she said there was nothing seen on ultrasound, and I should not worry.  I always over-react to medical things, so wondering if I should just wait the six months and not worry.  I sometimes get a strange feeling in the breast they were checking, but I am so very aware of every little quirk in it that I think it may be in my head.

Thanks again.

Dear Louise, Estrogen can cause tissue changes resulting in increases in breast density.

It sounds as if your doctors have made a thorough evaluation and waiting the six months makes sense.  If you notice a change in your breast self-exam before that time just let them know. Thanks for the update - good luck to you.
