margin

I had a lumpectomy and sentinal node biop done 1/21. The nodes were negative. The tumor was 8mm Stage 1 grade 2 intermed. The surgeon said she is happy with 1/2mm margin but oncologist may not be. i have to wait another week to see him and then decide if I need another recision...Your thoughts?

Hi,

This would depend on the lab reports of the sample post surgery sent for lab analysis.

The type of lesion is important before it can be decided whether this would qualify as a clear margin or not.

Also you would need to talk to your breast specialist and oncologist andd see what they have to say.

Do let us know what the lab reports say and also if you have any doubts.
