According to the NCCN (national comprehensive cancer network) guidelines. Tumors that are 0.6cm to 1cm in diameter can be "considered" for chemotherapy though the benefits will not be as pronounced compared to when chemotherapy is given for someone with larger tumors. I understand your concern regarding the risks of chemotherapy and I suggest you discuss this thoroughly with your oncologist if the benefit will be worth taking the risk. Treatment will also depend if the tumor is hormone receptor positive (estrogen or progesterone).
