milk duct infection

by vicki75, Jul 02, 2009 07:45AM
Hi i am 33 and i have had problems with my breast's for a number of years after giving birth to my second child,i started to loose green fluid through the nipples, I have been to the doctors and hospital on a number of occasions and was told it was infected milk ducts and was perscribed medication, The medication did not work on any occasion i asked could i have the milk ducts removed and was told by a doctor that he would not remove them in case i wanted to breast feed anymore children that i may have. And now seven and a half years later the problems still persist i did have another appointment with hospital and have now had a scan they told me i was now loosing blood through the left nipple and took a sample and i would need my milk ducts removed, i have now recieved a appointment to go for a mamographery i am very scared and dont really understand what they are lookin for they did say i had a lot of small cyst wen they gave the scan, i am really scared that this problem has been left and is going to be something worse and was wondering if someone had been through the same situation and could put any light on to it for me thankyou for your time x

I certainly can't say for sure without benefit of examination and test results but often Ductal Papillomas will be the cause of the discharge you describe. I can of course be due to other causes and that will be determined with the testing being done. Cysts are fairly common and not all that much to worry about so I think you should stay calm and take things one step at a time until your test results are final.    Regards ....
