I want to know if you have previously been on arimidex and it worked for several years, can you go back on it for treatment of er/pr positive breast cancer. It has been several years since on arimidex

Hi there.

The present recommendation for the duration of arimidex therapy is only for 5 years after surgery.  Additional years of treatment proves to be of minimial incremental, non-significant benefit and increases the chance for side effects, especially musculo-skeletal complications.  However, if ever the cancer recurs after at least a year after stopping arimidex, then this form of treatment can still be tried.

Regards.
