needle biopsy

by barkley321, Jan 30, 2009 09:53AM
yesterday my breast was red, hot &painful. The doctor did a needle biopsy and a very dark brown fluid came out. He put me on an antibiotic and wanted me to see a surgeon asap.Could it be cancer?

This discussion is related to Very little thick fluid able to be aspirated on needle aspiration of breast.

It's impossible to speculate as to the cause of your symptoms. Did you not have any type of imagery (mammogram / ultrasound) before the biopsy ? I'm curious as to exactly what was biopsied; you don't mention a lump. I'm sure the fluid was sent to Pathology and the report would indicate what type of cells are involved.  The recommendation to see a Surgeon is certainly appropriate and I hope you are doing this. Please let us know the results of your appnt.     Regards ....
