nipple and immediate area: rash

I'm 72 years old.  Last August I got a strange red, nipple rash that lasted several weeks.  Disappeared.  Came back in January.  Disappeared.  Now back.  Both breasts; left breast feels particularly heavy and full.  Little itchy, tingly, uncomfortable (particularly during the hot weather in Arizona).  It extends out and beyond actual nipple.  No crusting; no discharge.  Bra very bothersome. I hadn't, up until now, been concerned because I also was having a similar situation going on with my lips and facial skin.  Everything seemed to dry up from the inside out.  I thought the two could be connected.  Same thing; comes and goes.  However, I've not had a problem with my lips/face for months, since discontinuing lipstick (if, indeed, that might be the culprit).  I know I need to see a doctor soon, but in the meantime.....anyone else have this going on? Help?

So appreciate your advice!!  The rash has finally disappeared, but this latest was my third bout.  Yesterday I did buy two all cotton bras.  Who knows, the change may very well help!
I do believe I've got something "not so nice" going on, (perhaps Paget's disease?) but I won't know until I see a doctor upon my return to Washington State in another three weeks.  Certainly, just hearing some one else express other possibilities than those of my worst fear....  are helping to keep my anxiety at bay.  Thanks so much!!

Lotrimen is for fungal infections and you can buy it over the counter. Generic is cheaper, and fungal infections grow under moisture and with anything synthetic.

Also, change soaps to one that has no fragrance and is all natural and hypoallergenic.

Why don't you try switching to a very comfortable, all cotton bra. I think what you are describing is part an allergic reaction, and part from sweating, humidity, and heat, and which the heat and a bra that isn't 100% cotton, would make much worse.

When alone, I would not wear a bra at all, and perhaps apply to your nipples a little bit of Lotrimen cream.

But since your one breast is swollen, I would also see a doctor, especially if my suggestions don't change anything.
