You should not worry about the nipple discharge too much. It is ok if it is coming from one breast only and not both.
A nipple discharge is significant and needs to be investigated further if it -
- is persistent,
- comes out without squeezing the breasts or any stimulation,
- is bloody or foul smelling or altered,
- is associated with a lump, nipple or skin changes etc.
This is most probably as your physician tells you due to the clogged milk ducts. A time frame cannotbe specified to when the discharge would stop.
