nipple pain and discoloration

i have had a small dark brown discoloration on my nipple for more than a year.  lately i started getting pain and tenderness on my nipple especially in the morning. i had my period last week but until now i still have the pain and tenderness. what could these symptoms mean? did self breast exam but did not find any lumps.

Breast pain can be due to many things, most of which are nothing to be concerned about. Since this problem has been present for a year I would think you have ck.d with your Dr., but if not why not do that. It's always a good idea to see your Dr. for an examination when anything new or different is noticed concerning the breast.    Regards ....
