not sure what it is

Hi, i'm 38 year old.. and i have a painfull lump under my armpit closer to right breast i can touch it with 2 fingers... i have 2 cousins who both had mastectomy..i think thats as far as breast cancer runs in my family not sure..my gyn is not in till next week and my arm,armpit and breast are hurting.. can anyone give me a idea of what it could be plz...

Without benefit of an examination it's impossible to speculate as to the nature of this lump. I can tell you that lumps associated with breast cancer are rarely painful. If you have an appointment with your Dr. next week that is fine. This could be several things ... perhaps an enlarged lymph node, a cyst, a fatty tumor. I'm sure your questions will be answered when you see your Dr. next week .... Take care
