oncotype DX after radiation?

by 95froto, Jun 16, 2007 11:07PM
wish i knew about oncotype DX testing before I started radiation.    am unable  to decide whether to proceed w/ hormonal therapy.  surgeon said i may not need it.  1st oncologist said to take arimidex for 5 yrs, 2nd oncologist said to take tamoxifen for 2.5 yrs then AI for 2.5 yrs.  have been in menapause since 2/04.  seems like oncotype test results could help me decide whether i really need hormonal therapy if I scored 18 or higher.  what's the chance of dr & insurance approving test after surgery & radiation but no chemo w/ lumpectomy in 1 breast on 2/05 diagnosed w/ Stage 1, T1b N0 M0, 0.7 cm ER positive, PR negative, HER-2/neu negative well-differentiated infiltrating ductal carcinoma w/ 30% ductal carcinoma in situ?

The Genomic Access Program(GAP) helps you verify whether your insurance covers the test. The number is  877 235 4349. You may also want to contact the customer service of GH at 866 662 6897. They will try to ask some of the basic issues (some of the questions you posed). You may want ask for a RN if the testing is right for you. Sometimes they may ask that your docotr contacts them,

Good Luck.
