onset nipple itching could it be cancer related?

About a week ago my left nipple started itching really bad. It did look a little dry so I have been aplying lotion and now vasaline to it. Nothing has releived the itching. I have never had this problem. I have not switched to anything new....and kind of wierd for it only being my left one. It is red around but i thought from scratching ALL the time. The nipple is really sore but keep in mind i am do for a period in 2 to 3 days. Could this be cancer ralated or something else? PLEASE HELP

I think it is 'something else'. but that still means you should be seen by your doctor if this continues through the weekend.
