pain after lumpectomy

pain after lumpectomy

I had lumpectomy with sentinal node removal last month.  It's been about a month since the surgery.  My arm and breast are still highly sensitive.  Even if those areas are lightly touched by clothes it hurts.. Has anyone had this side effect after the surgery?  Will it go away eventually?

Hi,
As nerves regrow, you may feel pain and  very sensitive to touch. Your discomfort will eventually subside with time.Ask your doctor to prescribe some pain medication. Acetaminophen, ibuprofen usually can address the pain related to this type of nerve injury. Opioids (pronounced OH-pee-oydz) also can be used to treat this type of pain.
Wearing a good supportive bra, applying warm compresses and massaging the breast gently, can help in the healing process.
If your doctor has advise you to do specific exercises,do them regularly and soon you will see an improvement. The complete healing process can take weeks and even months but it will get better for sure.
Best wishes...
