pain and itchy nipple

pain and itchy nipple

hi,

My concern is for the last year I have pain and itchness inside the left nipple it comes and goes no discharge . I had a mammogram a year ago, and  they said there were cysts but nothing to worry about, but they could not see anything of concern with the nipple. I went back to the dr. last week, because the pain and itchness has inceased. I wake up at night with it. The Dr. has requested another mammogram, ultrasound, and she said that they may do a test where there is dye injected into my breast, she also mentioned they might do a biopsy. Today my husband notice that my breast was enlarged and not fitting into my bra, no pain or itchness, there is no rash, no color change, Can you please give me some info that will help me understand what is going on . Thank you

I think you should have the recommended Mammogram and Ultrasound and possibly the additional test that your Dr. mentioned. This may be due to some ductal problem. The milk ducts can become clogged and even infected and the dye test would shed some light on this problem. One thing I would suggest is that you keep looking and asking until you get a satisfactory answer and not accept the "wait and see". I personally would have pursued it when you had the previous Mammogram.  Regards .....
