pain in between shoulder blades while sleeping

I have just completed 4 AC then 4 Taxol two weeks ago. Had a bilateral mastectomy in September 2005.T1 N0 M0. HER2++, E+.
4 weeks ago I started having a discomfort in center of back, between the shoulder blades. Mild when I am up and about, painful in bed.  It is like a 3 inch circular area of pain and not close to skin surface, but more internal. It wakes me up at night. As soon as I get up it is better except an odd feeling when I swallow food in the morning.  Could this be mets?  What are the chances of cancer spreading WHILE in chemo?  I am losing my mind over this.  My ONC seems to think it is nothing and that I am acting neurotic(that part is true).  Now I have to wait 4 more weeks before a PET/CT scan.  Your opinion would be much appreciated!!

Dear 3kids:  Without evaluation, it is impossible for us to speculate on what this pain might be.  Certainly, this type of pain could be from many things.  Pain that turns out to be benign is more common than a pain turning out to be malignant.  However, given your history, it is important not to ignore symptoms that are out of the ordinary.  It may be worth a call to your doctor to see if the PET/CT could possibly be moved up to help you get through the worry.

Thanks for your reply.  Any chance that this could be a side effect from Taxol?  I have had a lot of pain and neuropathy while on it, even had to take 2 of the doses at 80%.  Any one else have this odd symptom??
