Hi,
You dont have to worry. The chances that this is breast cancer are minimal. And painful lesions are usually not malignant but rather infectious or inflammatory. The lump you mention could be a skin swelling or axillary lymph node. Axillary lymph nodes are known to enlarge sometimes after waxing , shaving or using a new deodarant. What you can do is try warm compressus and some OTC painkillers. If the pain does not go away in a few days , consult your physician for a clinical evaluation. You are at a slightly increased risk due to the family history, but that only means you have to carry on regular breast self exams and periodic mammograms and clinical evaluations after 35 - 40 years of age. Goodluck.

Hi.
The description you gave about the area of concern does not seem to e xtend beyond the skin. It is likely that during the skin irritation, it may harden  significantly enough to become felt as a lump. The wax may be contributory  .
Its best you have yourself examined by a physician to be sure.
