painful nipple ducts

26 yrs old. Recentfly been having pain in my armpit. When I went to feel around I felt a lump. Before that my nipple has been hurting really bad for a week. I look at the nipple and it's red and the ducts look swollen. Today I saw that the ducts now had some crust. Anyone have an idea what's going on? Working on setting up an appointment.

There may or may not be any connection between the issue with the lump in your armpit and the nipple problem. First of all, there is no way that you can see the milk ducts in the breast; they are inside the tissue and lead to the nipple. You are probably looking at the small bumps all around the base of the nipple which are Montgomery's Glands. It's possible that there could be some infection involving these glands which might be the cause of the enlargement of a lymph node in the axillary area. By the way these glands around the nipple also will enlarge during pregnancy. Make that appointment either with your Family Physician OR your GYN.   Regards..
