post mastectomy and genetic testing question

Old oncology nurse, actually worked BMT at clinic. Now 42 diagnosed with Infiltrating ductal carcinoma stg 1, 4mm found on initial bx 91% estrogen. Had bilateral mastectomy 3 weeks ago with tissue expanders placed. With large seroma accumulation on bilat. sides. Drain was in for 1 week post op and still was draining over 100cc/24hrs. Removed drains to prevent infection. Healing good but slow with filling of expanders due to seromas and breaking of surface blood vessels. I want to know what I can do to help seroma, I have started wearing chest wrap again. Is there anything I am missing? Also waiting on Brac genetic testing, thinking if positive will have hysterectomy vs just ovaries is that unreasonable?

Hi and welcome to the community!

I am sorry that you have been dx with BC, but it sounds as though you have jumped in to deal with it in an aggressive manner!

I'm also sorry no one responded earlier. That's probably because your surgeon would be the best one to turn to for advice in managing the seromas, and because once you get your BRCA results, IF they are positive, you would want to consult with one or more doctors (such as a GYN specializing in oncology) regarding what risk-reduction strategies they would recommend in your specific case.
