I had 8 rounds of chemo and three weeks ago started on herceptin  I had a small amt of vaginal spotting 3 weeks ago and again this am  Can chemo cause this

Dear lyleclaude:  Chemotherapy commonly causes disruption of normal menstrual cycles in premenopausal women.  Although tamoxifen, a hormonal treatment for breast cancer, may increase the risk of bleeding in postmenopausal women, vaginal bleeding is unlikely to be a side effect of either chemotherapy or Herceptin.  Most causes of vaginal bleeding are benign (non cancerous), however, unexplained postmenopausal vaginal bleeding warrents gynecologic evaluation.
