Hi,

Has the discharge been present since the surgery or has it just started? What is the color and amount? Does it come out on its own or only when the breasts are squeezed?

A nipple discharge is significant and needs to be investigated further if it -
- is persistent,
- comes out without squeezing the breasts or any stimulation,
- is bloody or foul smelling or altered,
- is associated with a lump, nipple or skin changes etc.

It would be best to consult your surgeon and get a clinical breast examination done to rule out any other cause of the discharge. Ask your doctor whether any investigations need to be done and if the discharge needs to be send for lab analysis.

Do let us know if you have any more doubts and keep us posted on how you are doing.

Let us know what your doctor advises.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.
