question about brest ultrasound result

xls
Dear doctor,

I am 42 years old woman and had breast ultrasound checked recently.

On the report it says:

There is dense and lobular glandular tissue throughout both breasts.
At the 10:30 to 11 o’clock in the left breast from the nipple there is a well defined hypo echoic lesion measuring 7x5x4 mm. This is consistent with a small fibroadenoma.

There is a tiny septated cyst in the right breast at the 8 o’clock position 1 cm from the nipple.

I am not fully understand what that means and a bit worried  about it although the doctor said it’s normal. May I ask how do you think? Should I take any further checking?

Thanks

Hi,
Your Ultrasound report states that you have a small fibroadenoma and a small septated cyst.
A fibroadenoma, which is a solid nodule, appears as a gray or hypoechoic area. In order to decide if the mass is suspicious enough to require further testing, the radiologist looks at the edges of the mass, called the margins. If the margins are smooth or well defined, round or oval, it is most likely benign.
A septated cyst means that there are divisions within the cyst, this is more suspicious than a simple cyst as it contains liquid and solid material (debris) but rarely these complex cysts are found to be malignant.
I don't know what your BI-RADS score is, which is usually stated on your Mammogram and Ultrasound report. You can call your radiologist to find out
Knowing your BI-RADS score number can help to make sure that you get proper follow-up after your mammogram or Ultrasound test.It is important for you to know the score you were given so you can keep track, along with your physician on what you need to do and actively participate in your medical care.
Best wishes....

Hi xls, it means your breasts are fibrocystic which is a disease women have with lumps and bumps the trouble with having it is that it can hide tumors, so it's good they did the ultrasound to check you.  Fibroadenomas are usually benign but they need to be watched for changes.  If you have a history of cancer in your family or you have the cancer genes yourself then you might want to do a biopsy of the material to be sure what it is.
