rare hematoma with lump and severe pain

hi . i am a 30 year old mother of 4 . i have been haveing breast pain for about 4 weeks now .whare i am haveing the pain i have had a lump for a while .well one morning i woke up and had a big hematoma in that same spot and the lump hasnt changed at all the pain has been so severe that i cant have nothing touch my breast .my mammogram shows a mass ultra sound shows something and you can feel the lump but the surgon says it cant be cancer because it is not hard.he also tells me he has never saw anything like this before .i have had cancer before and my aunt has had breast cancer .i am worried that it is gonna go unnoticed and get bad.i was woundering if you could tell me what it could be if it isnt cancer and why i have a hematoma when ther was no injery yo the spot.i am so worried i am sick and the pain never stops i have had it for 5 weeks now .thank you for your time and concerne and with any help you may be able to give to me.   glenna brewer

Dear glenna:  If there is a lump that can be felt and shows up on mammogram, it should be investigated further unless an ultrasound clearly shows that it is a cyst.  Cancer does not have to be hard, although it usually is.  If you are uncomfortable, you should seek a second opinion from a surgeon who specializes in breast evaluation.
