I think we have spoken before .... the removal of your ovaries would be to halt the production of EstrogenHormone replacement therapy ... evidently your tumor was ER positive. You are taking TamoxifenTamoxifen Tamoxifen citrate which is blocking the Estrogen and I'm sorry but I forgot you age ..... there are other medications that are prescribed when you are post menopausal or after the 5 yr.s of Tamoxifen for the same purpose. I'm not sure why oophorectomy was mentioned but I would certainly discuss this with your Oncologist. Some women do elect for removal of the ovaries but it isn't always done. If there is some particular reason in your case I'm sure your Oncologist can explain in detail. Regards ...
A friend of mine who has undergone the treatment for both her breast has been told by her oncologist that she can opt for some injections instead of removal of ovaries. She needs to take these shots every 3 months. She is also confused. Should she take the shots or not....
