right breast lumps

I have lumps in my right breast-if you use the term clock when examining there are lumps at 12 oclock,6 oclock and 4 and 3 oclock-just this past two months the pain is so severe that I cant stop to think im full of infection.I cant lean or rest on the right side-i cant lay in my stomach(at all) the pain is now going up towards my right armpit area.I have been to my dr. and she has sent me for a mamogram (mammogram) which came back negative.I have recently returned to her for further testing-she said to wait another 6 weeks and see if the pain goes away-well it has been 7 weeks and I have made anothe app to see her on tues. as I cannot live with this discomfort.I want a biopsy on ALL lumps -not just one of them-do they do that or do they just concentrate on one lump?I know a lady friend whom passed away at the early age of 40 with breast cancer--due to the fact they did biopsy on the one lump and not the others.Is there a chance that just one would have cancer-or do they tend to all carry it?Please ease my mind--------if you can....

You need to relax and trust your doctor about the evaluation and investigations. The biopsy is usually taken from multiple sites so as not to miss a cancer, but not from all the lumps, but it can still be done in your case as there are 4 lumps only. What you could discuss with your doctor after the biopsy results come in is the option of a surgical excision biopsy for removal of the lumps and then sending them to the lab for a confirmed diagnosis. If it comes out to be infective you will need a course of antibiotics alongwith topical application antibacterial and antifungal creams. If there is pus collection , an incision and drainage will need to be done. But this can only be decided after a confirmed diagnosis. Goodluck.
