should i be worried

by dalip, Oct 05, 2006 12:00AM
I have just found out that i have a 10cm simple cyst on my left ovary and a smaller one on my right. I am 47 and post menopausal. I have a history of both breast and ovarian cancer in the family.I have a benign lump in my right breast. I now have incredible itching in ny left nipple and noticed when having a bath yesterday that the skin around the nipple area is very wrinkled and the breast is hanging lower than the right. Should i get it checked or could the wrinkling be from the weight i have lost recently(due to bloating from ovarian cyst)and the itching from somthing else. I have not changed soap, washing powder, fab softener and have tried changing bras. Thanks

Dear dalip:  Without examination, we cannot speculate on whether these observations are concerning or whether they are characteristics of normal anatomy.  If you are concerned, you should see your doctor for examination.

Please get it checked by a breast specialist. My PCP and my OBGYN both said my small lump was nothing and it was cancer. There are many things that go on in the breast. Again be on the safe side and get someone else check it out. Let us know.

Also have noticed a couple of very prominant veins on the surface of the left breast going down to the nipple but as my breasts are both very lumpy anyway its diffacult to say if i can feel a lump. I thought i could feel a little pea sized lump very close to the nipple but its amazing what tricks ones imagination can do,when looking for somthing. Because of ovarian cysts(seeing gyny consultant next week with a view to removing both ovaries)i am lothe to visit gp for another ailment in case i get labelled tiresome or neurotic!.Has anyone else had similar symptoms without felling any lump?.

My lump was the size of a bee-bee just below and right of the nipple. Hard. Maybe yours is nothing but please get it checked.
