I just had a mammotone this past week for biopsy reasons. If it is bothering you about not knowing exactly if it is a cancer or not I would suggest you have it done. It is a relatively simple process and requires at most 1 or two days off from lifting or heavy labor. They use lidocaine injections similar to what dentists use to numb your gums. Other than the initial sting of the injection, which was not terrible, I only felt a little pressure. If there is any doubt a biopsy is the only way to know for sure. Hope this helps. Procedure took me about 45 minutes.
hi my ultra sound result:
right:
solid nodule, 8:00 position zone A, measuring 0.59 x 0.23 x 0.41 cm
solid nodule, 1:00 position zone B, measuring .75 x 0.49 x 0.88 cm
left
solid nodule, 10:00 position zone B, mesuring 0.62 x 0.39 x 0.65 cm and 1.47 x 1.11 x 1.29 cm
sold nodule 3:00 position zone B, measuring 0.65 x 0.49 x 0.84 cm
both axilliary areas are unremarkable
do I need I biopsy already or should I wait for how many months? I also feel aches in my breasts.I'm 44 years old.
Mammotome is primarily used as a biopsy procedure to obtain a larger sample than with other needle type biopsies but much less invasive than an open Surgical procedure. Since you state that the nodule is benign I'm assuming that you did have some type of biopsy. With a benign diagnosis I see no reason that the nodule needs to be removed but it may increase in size but I doubt that it would permanently decrease in size. Regards ...
