solid nodule

My doctor suggested me to undergo a process called mammotome, if I want to make sure that the solid nodule appeared in my breast would be totally gone. The solid nodule which is benign decreases its size from .05cm-.04cm after 7 months, results from the ultrasound.

Would that be fine if I don't go on that process mammotome since my doctor said that would be optional. She even assured me that there is no guarranty that the solid nodule would increases its size.

I just had a mammotone this past week for biopsy reasons. If it is bothering you about not knowing exactly if it is a cancer or not I would suggest you have it done. It is a relatively simple process and requires at most 1 or two days off from lifting or heavy labor. They use lidocaine injections similar to what dentists use to numb your gums. Other than the initial sting of the injection, which was not terrible, I only felt a little pressure. If there is any doubt a biopsy is the only way to know for sure. Hope this helps. Procedure took me about 45 minutes.

Mammotome is primarily used as a biopsy procedure to obtain a larger sample than with other needle type biopsies but much less invasive than an open Surgical procedure. Since you state that the nodule is benign I'm assuming that you did have some type of biopsy. With a benign diagnosis I see no reason that the nodule needs to be removed but it may increase in size but I doubt that it would permanently decrease in size. Regards ...
