why would a doctor request a sonogram after a mammogram?

by Cleveland Clinic, Nov 09, 2009 02:37PM
Dear nicolle39:  Sometimes if there is anything abnormal on a mammogram or if there is a lump that can be felt, a sonogram would be ordered to further clarify this.  A sonogram is best at determining whether an abnormality is solid or cystic (fluid filled).
