sore, hard nipple

In 2003 I had a lump in my left breast and had a lumpectomy that went beyond borders so I had a masectomy and since it wasn't in nodes but aggressive I had 6 treatments of chemotherapy. I had reconstructive surgery and had a mamogram in Sept. that was negative in my right breast.  For the last 4 days I have had a sore, hard nipple and I think I feel something under the nipple. I don't know if it is hormones (having had a hysterectomy I don't know if I'm ovulating) or if I should wait a little and see if the soreness goes away or have it checked out.  I am a little perinoid under the circumstances but I am the only family member to ever have breast cancer. I'm 41 had 3 kids, breastfeed don't smoke, drink, ect. Also hormone recepter was negative so I don't take tomoxifen.(sp) There is no dippling or leaking.  Just sore and hard and touchy, but not double over in pain, pain.

Dear Selinaoz:  Without examination, it is impossible to speculate on what this might be.  However, if you think you feel a lump, you should be evaluated by a physician.  Any new lump requires evaluation.
