spiculated mass bi-rad 4

spiculated mass bi-rad 4

Heres the mammo report:spiculated mass associated with several tiny pleomorphic calcifications. Hypoechoic borders difficult to measure due to heterogeneous appearance and some areas are shadowing. Approx 3.5cm.."highly suspicious"
I get what all these things mean-I guess Im wondering if anyone has specifically had these types of results with a bi-rad 4 that WASNT cancer? Also, im scheduled 4 consult regarding biopsy on sep. 8...the mass is deep so im wondering which type of biopsy i should go with? I see my regular doctor today who im sure can help me out a bit-but im more interested in actual life experiences with this.

The type of biopsy will be at the discretion of the Surgeon who will review your films as well as do his/her own examination. A spiculated finding does raise suspicion to a higher degree but it will take the biopsy to make a definite diagnosis. As a rule when a finding is termed "highly suspicious" a BIRADS score of 5 is assigned. There is no way to speculate as to whether this will be malignant or benign.    Regards ....
