stereotactic wire localization & breast implants

Can breast implants interfere with a stereotactic wire localization.  Lump is behind implant. Can the wire
puncture the implant? If this happens, what are the dangers.  If anyone has any answers could use help
ASAP regarding this procedure.
Thanks,

I think that there is a risk that it can puncture the implant, but it is a minimal risk.  There is a risk of almost anything happening.  I just had a surgical biopsy and they had to put a wire to mark the area in first in radiology with the mammogram.  They ended up puncturing my lung!  It wasn't a big deal, I guess it was so small it sealed instantly.  They found out because they actually saw air in my breast on the mammogram they did to check the wire placement.  I ended up having  a stat chest xray.  I am not trying to scare you just that there is always a risk even though it is small.  My area where the wire had to go was VERY close to the chest wall, so I guess my risk might have been greater.
