I was just wondering how you made out with your pathology report? Hope everything is good.
Sorry I just realized the date I typed in for my posting was wrong. I had the procedure done on 01/25/2010.
Hi bjscared,
I just had a sterotatic perfromed on two locations of my breast today 10/25/10. This was done by a breast surgeon-not a radiologist as I sometimes hear of doing this?? My appointment was not until 4pm and I have to tell you by noon I was shaking in fear, not so much about the pending dx, but worried about the terrible pain I have read about. She gave me Zanax .50 one hour before the procedure to help with anxity (I have never had anxity issues, but I guess she has seen enough women deal with this). I was very relaxed when I arrived at the breast center based at the hostipal. I asked about pain and was told by the person prepping me that she would not lie to me and that the shots to numb me would hurt, but the procedure would not. I have to say it didn't hurt anymore than a flu shot. It was more uncomfortable lying on the table than the procedure. I did have a little bit more bleeding than normal so they tightly wrapped by chest and said to leave it for 3 days. It was so easy my husband and I went out to dinner as soon as we left. Came home tonight and took 2 Tylenol and so far so good!! I hope you find the experience similar to mine.
Best Wishes!
Did Steriotactic biopsy hurt? They have told me to take 2 tylenol about 2 hours before and 2 after, but I am still worried about the pain. I have read that it does not hurt and I have read that it hurts a lot. Your opinion please.

Well, I will say that I left the stereotactic biopsy with no sutures just a bandaid on one spot. . . and it took about a half hour. It sounds like your experience was not easy. As far as mistreatment though, probably not. They were being thorough and trying to get the right area which proved difficult. I was given a 50/50 option for having the diagnostic stereotactic biopsy or the surgical biopsy in which they would have been able to remove more if needed. I chose the stereotactic with the understanding that I might end up in surgery as well. The hardest part is waiting . . . I'm sorry you are going through that. Many a biopsy ends in benign results and future close monitering (as mine did) and I hope for this outcome for you. Best of luck.
I see nothing unusual in what you describe .... the biopsy results will certainly answer your concerns and I see no need to consult another Physician. Stereotactic Biopsies take considerable time and your experience sounds quite common. Getting "some of it" is what a biopsy does ... only takes samples of the suspicious area. Regards ....
