tamofin side effects

I have been on tamofin since Jan. 2008 am experiencing horrible hot flashes.  At least I think they are hot flashes, body temperature off, feel clammy and sweaty.  Mood swings.  I s this all part of the side effects?

Yep, welcome to Tamoxifen.  Those are all glorious side effects.

Suggestion...try changing when you take Tamoxifen (try a couple weeks in the morning, couple weeks in the evening...couple weeks midday), take it with food...and also make sure you drink plenty of water in the day.

I take mine usually midday now and the hot flashes have calmed down along with the mood swings.  I also used Effexor for about a year after starting Tamoxifen, but that drug has some of its own nasty side effects (but worth it if the symptoms from Tamoxifen are really bad).  

I think the side effects will gradually fade as your body gets used to what its doing.

Good luck.  Talk with your doc if the effects get worse or prevent you from dealing with life in general.  There are things that they can do to help.
