tamoxifen concurrently with FEC

I am 62+ female.  I have stage 2B ER+ PR+ left breast cancer diagnosed early Oct, 2011, and have been undergoing FEC chemotherapy.  The oncologist also ordered tamoxifen to be started 2 weeks after my last chemo.

In the meantime, they did a FNAC on a small lump (which was supposed to be  a cyst) in my right breast, and found atypical cells in it.

I  just finished my last dose of FEC chemotherapy today.  My surgeon wants me to start with tamoxifen tomorrow.  Would this not conflict with the FEC chemotherapy?  Should I not wait for some time?

Thank you.

Hi,
I would think that your Oncologist recommended to start taking Tamoxifen  two weeks after chemo, just to give your body time to recuperate. You should call and let him/her know about your surgeon recommendation to start the medication immediately, maybe due to the fact that abnormal cells (Atypical) were found in the cyst.
Please discuss again your concern with your Oncologist if you could start taking Tamoxifen immediately or if waiting a little longer would make no difference.
Best wishes...
