taxol vs taotere

I have had 4 rounds of A/C, which was successful at shrinking my tumors at my second MRI.  I then was going to do 4 rounds of Taxol and also started Herceptin.  I have not had any side effects on Herceptin.  But after my second round of Taxol have had awful side effects of joint pain and numbness in my feet and hands which is being treated right now.  My oncologist is going to take me off Taxol and change to Taxotere.  What is the difference in Taxol and Taxotere in treating Invasive Ductal Carcinoma?

Dear tmc123,  Taxol and taxotere are in the same family of drugs (the taxanes) and both are used in the treatment of breast cancer.   The difference in terms of side effects may make one more tolerated in an individual situation than the other.  Here is a link to a website www.chemocare.com.  You can look up both medications for information regarding the medications, how they work, side effects, as well as suggestions for management of side effects.
